August Surf Team Update!

A little surfy update for you…

Chris and Keith Malloy are at home in Ventura getting ready to go to Tavarua, Fiji for the Kelly Slater Celebrity Invitational surf contest. Otto Flores and Aamion Goodwin just got back from Chile where they got super good waves and shot photos with Surfer photographer Scott Aichner. Jun Jo is in Japan surfing JPSA contests.

Jonathon and David DuPont are in Puerto Escondido right now and CJ Kanuha is on his way down there to shoot with one of the many photographers that are hanging out right now. Casey Brown just got back from a boat trip to the Mentawai Islands with surfing photog Pat Stacy, where they got really good waves. And now he is back in Newport for the summer. Nalu Wallace just left for Bali to shoot photos with Jason Childs.

Damn! Just reading about all that travelling gives me jetlag! That’s all for now, stay tuned for more tidbits soon.

Two Kooks and the King of Creedle

This Saturday, Aug. 6, The Surf Gallery will unveil its latest show, “TWO KOOKS AND THE KING OF CREEDLE: An Art Exhibition by Thomas Campbell, Alex Kopps & Estaban Bojorquez.” Stop by between 6 and 10 p.m. to check out the artists’ latest creations and enjoy live music by the Mattson 2.

Artist, photographer and filmmaker Thomas Campbell is well-known in the surf community for his films “The Seedling” and “Sprout,” but he is most recognized as a fine artist, with major contributions to the "Beautiful Losers" show. Alex Kopps is a designer, graffiti artist and fine artist from Oakland, Calif., and Estaban Bojorquez is a long-time Malibu local, known for his three-dimensional found object sculptures.

Last weekend, etnies made a little trip to the US Open in Huntington Beach. We thought you'd like to see some photos from the event.
