The 7th Annual NIXON SURF CHALLENGE, Presented by: etnies
29 September – 1st October 2006
SAN SEBASTIAN, SPAIN

Nixon is counting down the days for the 7th annual Nixon Surf Challenge held in San Sebastian September 29 – October 1st. A list of prestigious surfers have confirmed from the Nixon Team, such as Eric Rebiere, Benjamin Sanchis, Fabriz Gelez, Fredo Robin, Marlon Lipke, Gony Zubizarreta, Dan Ross and many more.

Gony is one of Spain’s prime surfers is finally back in business for this years Surf Challenge and we are super stoked that he will be a part of this years event.

Miky Picon is giving up his place to Jeremie Flores who is the youngest guy to ever qualify for the WCT at only 18 years old.

Three Tahitian surfers Alain Riou, Michel Bourez, and Hira Teriinatoofa have confirmed so we can expect to see some powerful Tahitian style surfing from these guys. Hira was on fire last year and took 4th place in the final and after his amazing Teahupoo WCT performance this year where he narrowly lost in the finals. Bringing in the younger Tahitian boys with him this year he will certainly step up his game in both night and day performances. Michel Bourez, gained 2nd place last winter at the last junior world championship and is definitely one to watch at the moment.

We can expect to see a strong performance from local Biarritz ripper Patrick Beven, who clinched one of the 1st 6 Star WQS event in Brazil this year, likewise from 2002 contest winner Jonathan Gonzalez who is considered one of the prime European surfers today.

Each year we save one spot for a surfer from the UK and this year we have our eye on our latest team addition Reubyn Ash one of the hottest young surfers who has ever come out of the UK.

The Nixon team invited most of these guys and we are stoked to have them as part of our three day, surfer lead, surfer judged event which has a 10,000 prize purse.

Check out www.nixonsurfchallenge.com for full list of confirmations and further information and updates on the Nixon Surf Challenge.

Otto's Bali Trip

From Otto Flores:

I pretty much just went to Bali to surf the rippable waves and get some work done in the most beautiful place in the world! We were surfing waves like Karramas and the other super rippable waves that are around there. That place has so many different waves, so many! Sketchy reefs, fun peaky beach breaks etc... If you go off the beaten path you have no clue how much fun you can have.

We where hanging out with all the boys Rizal, Betet, Marlone and the Bali Crew which are the most classic cats and you wouldn’t believe how high the level of surfing is in Bali! I'd like to thank them for everything...

We where shooting video with Ivan, Rizal's brother, and photo's with the most classic of all photographers, Scott Needham from OZ.

All in all we did a lot of Surfing in a lot of different waves. You know how Bali is...best waves, best food, massages and everything is super affordable once you are there. It was super cool to be hanging out with the crew Nick Kovac, Magnum Martinez & Kalle Carranza—everybody was ripping. I hope to get back soon....

Otto...

Cam Powell Stars in Surf School

Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, September 5, 2006

Surfer/actor/musician and etnies rider Cam Powell is starring in the new comedy Surf School playing NOW in selected theaters across the U.S. Cam plays the token surfer dude/stoner guy in the film (think Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High) and got to hang out in Costa Rica where they filmed the movie!

Surf School featured some other Hollywood hotshots like the kid who played a gay boyfriend on Desperate Housewives. But, frankly we were mesmerized by Cam's BROformance and all eyes were on Mr. Cam Powell at the San Diego premiere screening in Del Mar... Nice work Cam!

Check out Cam Powell's band Knife Fight on MySpace...
